Teaching philosophy

My teaching philosophy is rooted in my beliefs and values about schools and society and my understanding of effective practices and pedagogies. As a teacher educator, I am part of the collective responsibility to shape literacy practices to teach all students to become thriving readers, 作家, 和思想家. 我教, 研究, and serve in a literacy profession that has a significant responsibility to improve literacy practices for all students. My utmost priority as a teacher educator is ensuring an equitable learning environment for all children. Children thrive when they are supported by a teacher who fosters caring and authentic relationships and encour年龄s each child to reach their full potential. I aim to create learning environments in the university classroom with teacher candidates that are rooted in the journey toward equity. I work to prepare teachers to create an elementary classroom where children construct knowledge together, 解决问题, eng年龄 in flexible thinking, and are part of a community of learners. In all my teaching, I encour年龄 teacher candidates to lever年龄 student’s linguistic and cultural resources in teaching and use them as an asset to the learning community.
